![]() Merit Badges are an important part of our Boy Scout program and are a great opportunity for our Scouts to learn about different sports, crafts, sciences, trades, business, and future careers as they earn their badges. Currently there are more than 130 Merit Badges for Scouts to choose from and more are being introduced all the time by the BSA. Any registered Boy Scout can earn Merit Badges regardless of what rank they are. As soon as their application is submitted a Boy Scouts is eligible to start earning badges. To earn a Merit Badge a scout must work with a Merit Badge counselor that specializes in the topic they've chosen. The following is a link to the current list of Troop 212 Merit Badge Counselors. Your Scoutmaster has the contact information you'll need for each counselor. As a boy progresses through the Boy Scout ranks the importance of Merit Badges increases. When a scout is ready to enter the ranks of Star, Life, or Eagle then there are certain Merit Badge requirements to be met. Below are the current requirements for each of the ranks.
